a weekend raya-ing

the month of syawal is a month to strengthen the ties with your family and friends, old and new. raya is a month-long celebration but for most working people, we only get to go visiting during the weekends.
as for me, the 1st weekend of raya was spent at home, since this was the time when family and relatives came visiting, while the 2nd weekend was spent celebrating with friends.
first in the list was syura's open house do last friday. odeng and i went to syura's place at putrajaya straight after work. we were early and missed other friends because we wanted to be home early to catch "ayat-ayat cinta" on tv3! :-D

this raya, since my brother abo who's working at botswana is not coming home, and my navy brother, ajim is away sailing, we decided against doing our own open house do. our house welcomes anyone who comes visiting at anytime (but bedtime), so datang jer lah ek!
on saturday, i was up early to go grocery shopping. earlier last week, firin, an old friend from my JAD days, texted me to say that they were coming for raya, so i decided to serve them my mom's spagetti (cikwaniey jangan jealous yer! ;-) ) and my own special baked macaroni.

hehehehe.. not like i have a variety of menu under my belt to serve my guests. practically, the 2 dishes are the only ones i am confident about. i said special, because its not like i make it every day or every year. i rarely make it so that makes it special, right? hehehe.. okay okay, i can see some of you smirking (dont sneer, okay!) when u read this so i confess-lah, i rarely cook at all. 8-)
saturday afternoon, firin, juan and newly wed fuado, brought their wives to my humble abode for raya. later in the evening, tirah, peroz, odeng, sarip & azli came by. we chatted, we made jokes, we laughed together and at each other, we ate my spagetti and macaroni - an instant hit. i even packed some of my baked macaroni for them to take home! :-> -. i really enjoyed the day. i hope they did too.
the weekend ended with kak fiza-anjang's makan2 do on sunday at their place in bangi. kak fiza's curry mee was so lavish with seafood that i wished i had more space in my tummy to spare for that. gochisousama deshita!
